GSTR-1 due dates for monthly and quarterly (QRMP) filers, what to check before filing, and how to avoid late fees and mismatches.

Quick answer: Monthly filers file GSTR-1 by the 11th of the next month. Quarterly (QRMP) filers file by the 13th of the month after the quarter. Check B2B GSTINs, HSN codes and credit notes before you file.

What is GSTR-1?

GSTR-1 is the return of your outward supplies — every sale you made in the period. Your buyers’ input tax credit depends on it, so B2B details must be correct.

Due dates

Filing typeWhoDue date
MonthlyTurnover above ₹5 crore, or chosen monthly11th of the next month
Quarterly (QRMP)Turnover up to ₹5 crore who opt in13th of the month after the quarter

Dates can be extended by government notification — check gst.gov.in.

Checklist before you file

  • Every B2B invoice has the buyer’s correct GSTIN and state
  • HSN codes on invoices (4 digits up to ₹5 crore turnover, 6 digits above)
  • Credit notes and sales returns entered in the same period
  • Cancelled invoices marked as cancelled, not deleted
  • Totals in GSTR-1 match your sales register
💡 Late filing attracts a late fee per day and blocks your buyers’ credit. File on time even if there were no sales (a nil return).

How Billman helps

Billman builds GSTR-1 as you bill, flags wrong GSTINs and missing HSN codes before you file, and exports the GSTR-1 JSON for the GST portal.

FAQ
